Project Reflection
This project was called Our BNW project, BNW stands for brave new world, a book written by Aldous Huxley. In this project we worked in pairs, one author and one artist, I was the artist. In this project we were supposed to create a visually appealing comic, 4-6 pages long and mounted on black poster board. The skills we developed in this project were, Looking at things through a different perspective; backing up all knowledge given, with evidence: artistic skills to make our comic the best it could be; and last but not least, clarity, making a clear distillation of a scene from Brave New World. This project was important to my future for a variety of jobs and tasks that may be still to come, like displaying an idea or theme to a wide audience of academic and levels and a wide spectrum of personalities.
Throughout this project I feel I improved most on my teamwork skills. I am a fairly independent person who likes to get things done with speed and accuracy. So I generally don't enjoy working with partners. At the beginning of the project it was frustrating, two different people creating one project the way they wanted it to be. However, towards the end of the project, I began to enjoy always having someone to catch your mistakes, or critique your ideas. The content Skills I improved most on was facial expressions throughout my characters. When I sketch on my free time, I generally didn't care about their faces, rather the action that was being done. So this project really made me understand how much information, a face can supply you with.
On the next project, I would like to work most on communication with my partner. Towards the end of the project, we found out the the script didn't really match the comic, so we had to go back in and change some things, to make sure everything fit together. Overall I thought this was a great project, because of the way it teaches you about persistence and how to manage your time, and also about how to work well with a partner in times that you don't want to be working with someone in. I think that it will be a great ones for the freshman to do next year.
